4 Ways to Style a Vintage T-Shirt

4 Ways to Style a Vintage T-Shirt

Hi friends!

I hope you’re able to stay warm and cozy out there during such a rainy start to the week. This week, I wanted to share my second latest thrift find: a vintage cotton button up shirt. As fashion staple, the trusty white button up t-shirt has been styled a million different ways. From t-shirt dresses and crop tops, the button up shirt has lived many different lives.

I recently found this shirt at Uptown Cheapskate, a relatively inexpensive thrift store chain with regular deals and a large selection of brands. When I’m thrifting one of the first things I look for is quality of fabric: Is it free of stains? Does the fabric feel soft and high quality? Or does it feel cheap and thin. If the fabric feels and looks good then the next thing I’ll look at is the label.

Since this shirt has a vintage-looking tag and I couldn’t find much about the brand online, the next thing I looked for is the fabric content. One hundred percent cotton is ideal for shirts like this so I decided to try it on.

Though this shirt definitely has some flaws (i.e missing button on the side, fraying seams on the inside, and slightly shrunken sleeves) , I fell in love with this shirt because of the unique embroidered crest. This little detail reminded me so much of posh brands like Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and Burberry. Brands that exude old money and tradition. If you’re familiar with the brand Sporty & Rich, you know that details like this matter and it can be the very thing that makes a brand come to life.

Anyways, to celebrate my latest thrift find, here are four ways I like to style my new shirt:

Outfit details:

  • Shirred Top: Reformation (thrifted)

  • Pants: John Galt (thrifted)

  • Shoes: STAUD

  • Bag: Jaquemus

Outfit details:

  • Jeans: 501 Levis

  • Bag: ALDO (thrifted)

  • Shoes: vintage

Outfit details:

  • Skirt: no label

  • Shoes: Reformation (gifted)

  • Bag: vintage

Outfit details:

  • Top: Free People

  • Boxer Shorts: ALFIE Paris (thrifted)

  • Shoes: Reebok

  • Hair clip: Lisa Says Gah

  • Bag: vintage coach

Though there are many more ways to style this shirt, I started to run out of light while I was shooting outside, so for now four will have to do. This white shirt has become one of my favorite staples so I’m sure you’ll see me sporting this shirt one way or another all week.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my latest blog post. I hope I was able to bring you some joy to the start of the week and do leave me a comment down below with any questions or suggestions. Until next week!
