Thrift Haul: January
This past Friday, I returned to one of my favorite thrifting spots, Crossroads in Culver City, to find some new pieces for Spring.
The best part of thrifting is the serendipity. You never know what you’re going to find. Sometimes there are days when I find a bunch of amazing pieces and sometimes there are days when I leave the store empty-handed. My most recent visit was a great success. I found some unique pieces to wear for photoshoots and some great daily staples. Also, I was lucky that everything fit perfectly when I tried it on at home.
Stevie May Prairie Dress: My favorite piece that I found is the puffed sleeve dress by the Australian brand, Stevie May. The dress is fully embroidered with lovely wildflowers and foliage; it’s simply the most romantic dress I own and the craftsmanship is remarkable. I love every detail of this dress and it’s a sample, so more likely than not, this dress is one-of-a-kind! Usually, dresses can start at around $300 for this brand, so this sample dress was a steal at $30.
B.Young Print Maxi Dress: Prints are not usually my go-to, but occasionally it’s nice to have something outside the typical monochromatic. I was drawn to this maxi print dress by B.Young because of the simple yet eye-catching black and white print. Also, the length and slits on the sides of the dress made it the perfect easy fit. The dress was originally fairly large with no shape to it, so I sewed a ribbon to each side seam of the dress to draw in the waist. This way, the dress now has a more fitted, hourglass silhouette instead of the fabric just falling loosely around my frame.
I paired the dress with a vintage micro-bag my Godmother recently gifted me. I know micro bags lack range in terms of functionality, but I’m still so in love with the mini bag trend.
After Market Linen Crop Top: Perfect for Summer and exploring local farmer’s markets, this puff-sleeved crop top is going to be one of my warm weather staples. I wish the top had a matching skirt so I could wear it as a full set, but I think it can also pair well with a denim skirt or even overalls.
Sam Edelman Suede Mules: I’m a sucker for easy to wear yet stylish shoes. Mules are typically my go-to style because I hate to deal with laces and I like to just slip on my shoes quickly when leaving the house. These Suede Mules by Sam Edelman are going to replace my old, worn out black Steve Maddens that I wore into the ground. Also, I love the caramel color, which pairs perfectly with everything.
& Other Stories Puff Sleeve Shirt: So clearly my love for puff sleeves is evident. & Other Stories is a brand that I’ve been following for a while now and I love the brand’s assortment of both timeless and on-trend pieces. I think this top is perfect for Summer or Winter and can be styled to be both work-friendly and picnic-friendly.
ALDO Chain Shoulder Bag: I know the 90s and early 2000s have had a major influence on bag design lately. With the rise of the Le Chiquito micro-bag by Jacquemus and mini-shades as worn by Rihanna on the red carpet, mini is clearly better. To serve my mini bag appetite, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect baguette bag. Something that isn’t so mini that I can’t put anything in it but also petite enough to still be considered a small accessory. Eventually, I finally settled on a faux leather shoulder bag by JW PEI that my friend gifted to me for Christmas, so now I have two shoulder bags (because one can never have too many bags). For the price, this ALDO bag is amazing quality. The shoulder chain is a nice, heavy weight and the bag even includes a long crossbody strap to wear two different ways.
This completes my latest thrift haul! I hope you enjoyed reading along and as always, I would love to know what you think. With Springtime just around the corner, I recently planted some poppy seeds and I’m planning to shoot more outside with my new pieces.
Wishing you a lovely week.
xx
