La Boîte à Gateaux, Jacquemus

La Boîte à Gateaux, Jacquemus

After long last, I’ve finally acquired my first Jacquemus bag. Most well known for the creator of the Le Chiquito bags, Simon Porte Jacquemus has been taking the fashion world by storm. After spending hours researching online, watching YouTube reviews, and reading about the do’s and don’ts of purchasing your first luxury bag, I finally decided to purchase La Boîte à Gateaux by Jacquemus.

Though I tried to consider other brands for my new bag purchase, something just kept pulling me back to Jacquemus. Also, I should note, that my budget didn’t quite allow me to reach the stratospheres for the likes of Chanel (my ultimate goal), Prada, and Louis Vuitton. So I dove into other small luxury brands that I’ve admired like Danse Lente, Mansur Gavriel, Cult Gaia, and Little Liffner. One day, my mentor sent me a picture of an assortment of Jacquemus bags that just happen to be in stock. The one that caught my eye of course was the little white top handle bag by Jacquemus. Instantly, I thought, “This is it. This is the bag that I want.” It’s petite, iconic, and white which will go with everything. Plus, I loved how the design of this bag was inspired by a French cake box, thereby giving the bag its name: La Boîte à Gateaux.

Like many people fascinated or obsessed with Jacquemus accessories, I knew that purchasing one of the iconic Le Chiquito bags would be more of a ‘fashion statement’ than provide functionality. Though I knew I wanted a Jacquemus bag, I thought it would be silly to be someone with my budget to purchase a bag that could hardly hold my phone. After unboxing my bag, I can confidently say that the bag can hold my phone, wallet, and a few other small essentials.

Thank you so much for reading about my first Jacquemus bag experience! I can’t wait to style my new bag with all the pieces that I recently thrifted. This bag brings me so much joy and I’m so excited to see what Jacquemus creates next.

I should note that the bag is from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, so unless a retailer just still happens to have the bag in stock, it’s a hard bag to come-by. When I researched this bag, I discovered that there are a few listed on second-hand websites likes Poshmark and I was happy to see that the bag has held most of its overall value.

As always, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section down below.

xx
