Almond Blossom Season
On a grey and gloomy day in March my dear photographer friend, Fanny Chu, suggested that we go on a mini road trip to Bakersfield to take some photos while the almond trees were in bloom. The drive to Bakersfield was a bit of a trek, but once we were immersed in delicate, white almond blossoms, the long drive was so worth it. The field of almond blossoms was so etherial and visiting is easy since the almond trees can be seen from the side of the main road.
For this shoot, I decided to bring a few different outfits. I thrifted the pale pink chiffon dress, which is a bit big on me but I thought for frolicking in a field, it would be perfect. The chiffon texture and ruffles reminds me so much of Hermione Granger’s Yule Ball dress (her up-do hair style was my prom inspo).
The second dress was actually my bridesmaid dress for my friend’s wedding. It’s from BHLDN and I love the pale blue color. Since there are very few occasions when I can re-wear a bridesmaid dress, I decided to make the most out of the opportunity to add another wear to this dress.
Overall, shooting these photos was a magical experience. There’s something so special about being immersed in such fleeting beauty and I feel so lucky to have a chance to experience moments like this. One day, I hope to go to Japan for cherry blossom season. I think it’s one of the ultimate seasonal and cultural experiences of a lifetime.
Photos were shot in both film and digital by Fanny Chu.
Thank you for reading! I hope you are having a lovely Spring and enjoying everything that the warmer weather has to offer. Since this week is my birthday, I’ve been reflecting about the past year and re-evaluating my future aspirations. More to come!
