Superbloom
The Superbloom has hit SoCal and with that new inspiration for beauty, photography, love, and life.
For this photoshoot, I collaborated with my photography friend Fanny Chu and make-up artist Morgan. Before the shoot, I sent Fanny some looks that I wanted to shoot in the flower field. I knew I wanted each look to be whimsical and even a little modern, so I paired a blush pink kimono that I recently thrifted at Buffalo Exchange with a vintage silk slip. For the second look, I layered my old yellow kimono with a plain crepe dress and red sash. And lastly, for the final look, I wore a victorian style dress that Morgan brought the the shoot. I could barley put it on since there are no zippers or ties on the dress, but it was so fun to frolic in the flowers for a while in such a flowy dress.
A lot of my inspiration for this shoot also came from my favorite fashion blogger, Nicole Warne. In a collaboration she did for Chanel’s launch of it’s new fragrance collection, Les Eaux De Chanel, one of the looks she featured on her blog showed her against a bright, blue sky in a organically tiered flower crown. Granted, we didn’t have enough time to make a flower crown for this photoshoot, but I think many of the aesthetic values, valuing nature, can been seen in these collection of photos.
For the makeup, Fanny and Morgan chose a lilac eyelid accented by a bright blue winged eye. Usually I’m not one to do a bold eye on myself, but I love how the make-up was kept clean everywhere else. It was very warm when we were shooting and it was hard to keep my eyes open with the bright reflector in my eyes, but overall I’m very happy with how the photos turned out.
Happy Spring!
