The Flower Fields
The Flower Fields in Carlsbad is one of my favorite places to visit in the Springtime. I came here with a friend about two years ago to take pictures. We sat in traffic for about two hours to reach our destination that year but it was so worth it.
During my visit this year, there were far less flowers in bloom. I will note that I came early in the season, so it’s possible that some of the flowers still need more time to fully bloom. Nevertheless, The Flower Fields is a breathtaking destination. It’s one of the few places where you can go to be completely immersed in bright, lively ranunculus in a spectrum of colors.
For my flower field outfit, I decided to wear a cotton dress by the brand ‘velvet by Graham & Spencer’. I recently thrifted this dress, shoes, and bag from my last visit at Crossroad Trading in Culver City. The suede mules are Sam Edelman and the bag is vintage. The hat, I purchased a few years back at Arie/American Eagle of all places. It was on sale and I just thought it was the perfect hat to wear for Spring and Summer. All together, I wanted my look to be timeless, chic, yet comfortable enough to walk around on dirt paths.

To me, Springtime is one of the most romantic seasons. With wildflowers in full bloom and more sunlight, I believe that Spring is full of promise and optimism.
If you plan on visiting The Flower Fields make sure to purchase your ticket in advance. Tickets are not sold onsite. For photo purposes, try to go when the sun is high, around 12pm-3pm to get the best lighting.
Another place I’d like to visit is Antelope Valley where the California superbloom burst in fields of orange poppies. Maybe it’s because I’m a Spring baby (Taurus to be specific), that makes me really drawn to fields of flowers. They just make my heart soar and I truly think that if I could live among field of flowers forever, I’d always be in a state of pure joy.
