The Flower Fields
Heaven on Earth never felt…so close.
I’ve heard of the fantastical Calrsbad Flower Fields for some time now.
A few girls I know have done the drive, bought tickets, and told me it wasn’t worth it to visit The Flower Field Ranch. My other alternative was to go to Antelope Valley for the Superbloom of poppy fields. But due to the rise of social media, a frenzy of people showed up to the national park causing traffic jams and all kinds of congestion. So to save myself from the stress of fighting traffic, my friend, Kornelia and I decided to head South to Carlsbad.
Originally, we only estimated it taking about an hour and a half to reach The Flower Fields from Dana Point, but due to weekend traffic, it ended up taking us about two hours just to reach Carlsbad city limits. “It’s such a long drive just to take pictures, so not worth it”, I’ve heard other friends say, but we were persistent and when we finally arrived it felt like I was seeing heaven on Earth.
Below is a collection of some of my favorite photos we took during our visit. I wore a white dress that’s slightly too large for me, so I wrapped one of my grandmother’s old silk scarves around it to help hold the dress in place. The hat I found in back of an Arie store while I was trying to do a gift exchange. I’m absolutely in love with straw hats for Spring. I’m always forgetting to wear sunscreen, so hats are a much more stylish alternative to sun protection.
Overall, I’d say this place is worth the visit. Maybe I don’t need to come every year, but if your heart soars when you see flowers, then this place is for you. As a Spring baby, I can’t help but feel some kind of sentiment towards the first blooms of Spring. As everyone knows, Spring represents rebirth and a new chance to start over. If ever there was a time to let go of the past, it’s in Spring.
I still want to visit the poppy fields someday. I think the season is nearly over, but one year I’d like to go.
Happy Spring!
xx
