Woods Cove
Hi friends,
I am so excited to share these photos that were taken last month with my photographer friend, Kiley, in Wood’s Cove Laguna Beach. It was a gloomy spring afternoon with hardly any breeze. The air was chilly and I got goosebumps as I felt the wet sand between my toes. Tucked away between a residential neighborhood overlooking the ocean, Wood’s Cove is a popular spot for intimate and secluded photoshoots. Kiley was the one who had selected the location for our shoot and I had never been to this particular spot in Laguna so I was excited to check it out. I was a little bummed the weather was so dismal that day, but I absolutely love how the photos turned out.
For the shoot, I’m wearing a vintage silk slip dress and a vintage white denim jacket. Both pieces were handed down from my mom. Silk continues to be one of my favorite fabrics. There’s nothing quite like the luster and shimmer that comes from 100% silk. It’s an absolute dream to wear and this look embodies so much of my current style ethos: minimalist, timeless, romantic.
When brainstorming ideas for the shoot, one of the first concepts that Kiley mentioned to me was using gel photography which uses a tinted filter over the flash to create an artificial color effect in the photo. The blue tint ads a dramatic effect to the photos. It kind of reminds me of an eerie sci-fi scene or A24 film.
One of the best parts of shooting with friends is being able to experiment and collaborate. In the case with Kiley, we’re always trying to grow and top whatever we’ve shot in the past. From shooting in the Chinese Gardens at The Huntington Library to wandering through of Pasadena City Hall at sunset, each shoot has been a stepping stone filled with creative growth and opportunity. Thank you so much for being apart of my creative journey and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
xx
