 Thrift Haul: January

Thrift Haul: January

New year, new (yet stylishly sustainable) clothes.

During the last week of December, I just happened to be in the OC so naturally I had to swing by Crossroads Trading to see if there was anything I absolutely needed. Of course, I didn’t NEED anything but I did find a few things that I think are great LA winter staples.

Look 1

To me, this beige knit crop tank is the ultimate wardrobe essential. The knit fabric makes this top a little more elevated than just a jersey fabric or standard cotton and it has the perfect amount of stretch. I also love a square neckline to show a little collarbone.

These jeans by Uniqlo are kind of a funny fit. They’re like a shrunken mom jean: high waisted but too short at the ankle. Usually, I’m very particular about the fit of my jeans but when I put these on they were so comfortable and they were half off (around $11). Since I go into work a couple times a week, I do like to have a few pant options and I feel like nearly everyone owns a pair of black jeans.

Look 2:

  • Coat: Some Days Lovin

Despite the brand, Some Days Lovin, not being around anymore when I checked online I love this fluffy coat. The oversized fluffy lapel is the coziest part of the coat and it makes for a stylish yet completely wearable winter staple. Not pictured is a hook in the front of the coat for closure and side pockets. This coat really does have it all.

Look 3:

Blazers. Let’s talk about it. They’re the ultimate minimalist girl staple. An effortlessly chic moment and the cornerstone gender neutral fashion. A well fitting blazer shows class, seriousness, and polish, but in this case my thrifted blazer is anything but perfectly tailored. When I was in college studying business, I felt like I was the only student in the class that didn’t wear or own a proper business suit. I remember shopping for pencil skirts and blouses because I didn’t like how blazer seemed to look stuffy. Overtime with the shift of trends, the preppy, Sporty and Rich, 90’s era aesthetic has captured my soul. I love the look of a vintage blazer. I’ve even tried wearing my dad’s but the length and shoulder pads drown me.

So here we are, many years later and I finally own my second blazer. The other one I have is a white Zara blazer. Not my favorite now, but still hanging on to it.

On my Instagram, I put a poll up on my story to let you vote between this coat and the blazer. Most people chose the blazer and I agree it’s way more practical and mature, but I couldn’t pass up on the fluffy coat and got both. Many thanks to everyone who participated in voting though! In total, I spent a little under $100 for everything. All items were under $30 each.

As the weather continues to teeter on gloomy skies and chilly mornings, I have already started dreaming about Spring. Seasonal depression is real my friends and if there’s one truth to me being a Taurus, I absolutely THRIVE in the Spring. Cozy moments in the winter quickly turn into phases of hibernation and a lack of inspiration. Even then, I know I’m being dramatic considering that the coldest and gloomiest it ever gets in LA is barely anything compared to other places in the country.

Anyways, let me know which thrifted piece is your favorite in the comments section down below. Also, what things do you do to cope with seasonal depression?

xx
