Black Friday: Shop Small Business

Black Friday: Shop Small Business

Black Friday is here. I mean, it was basically here the second Halloween was over. But in the spirit of shopping small, sustainable, and consciously, I wanted to share some of the small business on my mind to shop this holiday season.

Clothing:

  • Crossroads Trading: So I know Crossroads is a chain and not exactly a small business, but if you’ve been reading my blog this year, you know that most of the clothing I’ve been wearing is from Crossroads. I’m so used to thrifting now, I can hardly get myself to pay full price for new clothes. Throughout the year, I’ve been able to find amazing brands like Margaret O'Leary, Tibi, and Reformation by diving into the racks of clothing. To me, thrifting is a great way to explore a large selection of brands while creating less waste for the environment.

  • Suki: Handpicked vintage items and based in LA. For super cute vintage items without the insane vintage price, shop Suki! I’m particularly in love with the Celine ribbed turtle neck top, so someone please buy it before I do.

  • Lisa Says Gah: Artsy and eccentric. Lisa Says Gah has the best assortment of independent brands (including their own in-house label) that truly spark joy. Brands like House of Sunny and Paloma Wool can be found under LSG among so many more.

Accessories:

  • Epoch Jewelry: Created by fashion blogger, Mireia, Epoch Jewelry features handcrafted vintage designer buttons turned into beautiful pendants. For something chic and unique, definitely check out her new Etsy store!

  • Jane Dottie Vintage: Remember scrunchies? Yes, me too. Well, you definitely need your scrunchie to match your face mask and why not also have a cute little cottage core scarf to match as well? This brand has it all and in so many colors to choose from!

Beauty and Wellness:

  • Golde: Brooklyn based and black owned business, Golde is a wellness and beauty destination. All of their products come in the cutest packaging and as a self-proclaimed matcha addict, there’s really no such thing as too much matcha.

  • LESSE: Organic skincare with a focus on diversity within the world of beauty. LESSE is one of those brands that I see here and there on Instagram and for some reason they always stand out to me. The products are on the pricier side, but I’m sure are well worth it.

  • Skwálwen Botanicals: An Indigenous owned beauty brand that uses hand-harvested wild ingredients to create healing and luxurious face oils, body sprays, face masks, and bath salts. The brand currently carries an assortment of beauty bundles which I think make the perfect gift for any beauty lover or stocking stuffer.

Home Decor:

  • Cyan Ceramics: Minimalist ceramics handmade in LA. I love fresh flowers and so naturally, it’s essential that all my flowers have lovely homes. If fresh flowers aren’t your thing, ceramics can also be used for decor on their own!

That’s all for now! I hope you’ve found this shopping guide helpful or at least inspirational as you shop during the holidays. I know it does take a bit more time and thought to shop small, but every purchase counts! As for me, I won’t be doing too much shopping or gifting this year. I have my family, friends, and health, all of which are much bigger blessings than I could ever ask for this year.

I do keep a running wishlist of items that I have my eye on but usually restrain myself from buying. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that my latest “big” purchase was a floor mirror for my room. I’ve been looking for one all year, so the mirror is basically an early holiday present to myself. Nevertheless, I might share some wishlist items on my mind in a separate blog post with you.

If I see or hear of more brands to feature, I’ll be sure to add them here. Feel free to comment down below with some of your favorite local or small businesses. Happy holidays!

xx
