Style: Navy Silk Dress

Date night for one.

If you’ve been following along on my latest style blog posts, you’ll know that I’ve been in love with all things silk for Spring/Summer. There’s something so incredibly luxe and romantic about the texture of silk. I love how it shimmers in the warm sun and moves like liquid on the body.

One of my all-time favorite brands, Orseund Iris sparked my love for timeless pieces and feminine silhouettes. OI’s gorgeous Night Out Champagne Top and classic button-down silk shirts are some of my favorite pieces and make the perfect additions for any capsule wardrobe.

Since, I’m can’t quite afford OI’s beautiful pieces, I’ve been improvising. I found this dress at Crossroads in Culver City. I was between this dress and a red Reformation gown. The style savvy sales associate convinced me to purchase this dress since it’s a better deal for being 100% silk. I was not super in love with it at first, but after wearing it around for a while, it started to grow on me.

The shoot is very “date night” inspired. It wasn’t intentional at first, but I’m very much inspired by minimalist style bloggers, Marie Von Behrens and Christie Tyler, both of whom are happily engaged and gush romantically about their fiancés. I miss dressing up and going places with my girlfriends. Dating has also been super stressful during COVID, so for now, I just enjoy getting dressed up all for myself (and the blog of course).

Beauty note: Now that it’s Fall, I can pull out my gemstone lipsticks. Here, I’m wearing Mac’s liquid lipstick in “Dance with Me” (how appropriate) in Retro Matte.

Also, Happy Halloween! No matter what, I hope you are able to make some festive memories. Last weekend, I met up with a few friends to paint pumpkins while we social distanced. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. I highly recommend painting pumpkins instead of carving; it’s a lot less messy. Here is a picture of my finished pumpkins:

As always, thank you for reading! Feel free to leave a comment, like, or share! I’ll be sharing my photos on Pintrest as well. To follow my mood boards, click here.
