24: Bday Highlights
For my 24th Bday, I wanted to do something special to share my creative spirit with my dearest friends.
After a bit of brainstorming, I decided on a DIY succulent party where every girl could decorate her own pot and take home a new green friend to love. Here are the highlights:
The weather Saturday morning was not ideal; it was grey and gloomy and not the mood at all for a DIY succulent party. Nevertheless, the show must go on, so I picked up sandwiches from Corner Bakery and a red velvet bunt cake and simply hoped that the weather would not put a damper on the afternoon.
Slowly but surely, friends started to trickle in. As always, I am overjoyed to see all my friends from various phases in my life come together to celebrate another year of precious life. This year, I turned 24 and I can can confidently say, I am ready to face a whole new chapter of my life that’s full of creativity and new adventures.
Every girl decorated her pot in accordance to her personality. I was fascinated to see how my friends picked out colors, patterns, and designs in accordance with their tastes and intentions. Some went all out and painted the whole pot, others were more intricate and painted letters or flowers on their pot. No matter what the outcome was, every girl’s pot was unique to her personality and carefully selected with love.
Since my party last year was so fun and wild, I wanted to do something more low key were I could sit and craft with friends and enjoy our company togther. Of course, being the hostess, that doesn’t always happen, but this year I really tried to share a special moment with each and every one of my friends who attended. I am so lucky to have friends from every phase of my life. From the earliest years of pre-school to the later years of college, the girls that I am lucky enough to call my friends have shaped my character and bring me hope that anything is possible.
To me, friends are like succulents. As the hardiest of plants, succulents only need a little watering and sunshine to keep them alive. With a little TLC, good friends will always be sturdy enough to withstand the changing weather. To all my dear friends, thank you so much for indulging in my creative spirit this past weekend. Your friendship brightens the garden of my life.
Succulents were supplied by The House Plant Shoppe, an online retail store that sells adorable house plants at an affordable price (no this is NOT a sponsored post-just a friend trying to help a friend). Tristian, a friend who I went to college with started this company with a few of his friends. Though I wouldn’t say I have the greenest thumb, I have an assortment of plants from them that I’ll be posting about soon (if I can keep them alive that long). Please check them out!
As always, if you gotten this far, thank you so much for checking in and reading. I hope you enjoyed this post celebrating friendship and creativity.
xx
