Jul 28 Sicilian Style

Makeup and styling inspired by #DGlovepalermo

I've always been a huge fan of Dolce & Gabbana. Every fashionista has probably seen the Devil Wears Prada and remembers the scene where Andy has no idea how to spell the brand name while she's on the phone at Miranda Presley's office. The brand is simply iconic and anyone whose even has the slightest interest in designer fashion has aspired to wear the label.

My last shoot was entirely inspired by Dolce & Gabbana's Palermo fashion showcase. DG is a very whimsical brand in general, but in this particular show, models sashayed down the runway in the most opulent and luxurious gowns I have ever seen. The makeup and hair was kept relatively simple while the headpieces were large and cascading. The whole look was an absolute fairytale and dripping in Italian glamour.

Of course, I can't afford even second-hand DG, so I went ahead and styled my look off a cream vintage slip with oversized chandelier earrings. To top it off, I wore a vintage-inspired headpiece created by the Etsy store owner Collen Toland and a gold body chain.

Makeup was kept to a minimum to create a simple, natural look. I used Colourpop Highlighter on my eyes and cheekbones, filled in my eyebrows with simple brown powder, and mixed two lip colors together to create a deep berry color lip shade. There is very little photoshop on most of my photos (except the second to last one because my tan lines were so distracting). This way, I hope I can create a more authentic look that you can re-create at home.
