DIY: Holiday Cards

DIY: Holiday Cards

Every year, my family sends holiday cards to friends and family, but this year, I wanted to create my own.

First, I pulled inspiration from Pinterest to create my design. I was inspired by the simplicity of holiday wreaths and the simple texture of foliage. Since I planned on painting 25 holiday cards, I wanted to make each one unique and personalized as well. To practice, I painting mini branches with various textures and leaves that I would later combine to make a full wreath.

After I finished painting all of the cards, I wrote the name of each recipient in the middle of the wreath, wrote a little note, addressed the postcard, and added a few stickers. Writing letters is truly a lost art, but I really love sentimental things like this. You can tell a lot by a person by the way they react to the simple things in life and for me, I love taking the time to tell each friend how much they mean to me.

This year has been filled with uncertainty, trauma, heartbreak, and disappointment for so many people including myself. Even though I know we can’t help but internalize the worst, I want to try to do everything I can to heal and help others heal as well. We are all looking for love, connection, and purpose and even though a postcard is such a little thing, to me, it’s a way to give the people I love things money can’t buy: grace, affection, and devotion.

What are you doing this holiday season? Let me know in the comments section down below!

xx
