Where nostalgia and whimsy collide~

Photoshoots are often a spontaneous occurrence for me. I’m usually guided by a feeling, photo, brand, or piece of clothing for inspiration and the rest just comes together. For this shoot, I was inspired by my latest thrift finds. A silk halter dress as worn in my previous blog post and a cotton A-line dress. The cotton dress needed some TLC after I realized that the lining of the dress was ripping out. After some amateur sewing, I was able to fix her up to look good as new. I’m really drawn to fabric when selecting a new piece to purchase. In the past, eyelet, silks, and satin fabrics have been my go-to.

The hat is a childhood piece. When I was about six or seven years old, I had a tea party with all my closest friends. My mom and I decorated the hats by hand using fake flowers and tulle we bought at Michael’s. I was so lucky to have such beautiful themed birthday parties. Now, I carry on the tradition. All my birthday parties have a theme and I still love having afternoon tea with those same friends.

Shot in Ascot Hills. Digital and Film Photography and by Fanny Chu. Styled by me.
