Tea Party Picnic

Tea Party Picnic

Three weeks of planning, two weekends of baking, and one Google doc later, we made our dream picnic a reality!

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that lately I’ve become a huge fan of the Cottage Core style and aesthetic. So it should come as no surprise that the “extravagant picnic aesthetic” is also something that I’ve been wanting to attempt. At home, I love eating al fresco either in the backyard or on the patio. I feel like it’s one of the best ways to truly appreciate the sunny SoCal weather.

For this tea party themed picnic, I collaborated with my dear friend, Prathyusha. She’s a baking queen and like me, an excellent party planner. Since the start of quarantine, she’s already executed a few picnics for her friends and family, so she knew exactly what to bring to make our spread incredible.

As part of my contribution to the spread, I baked decorative focaccia bread from scratch (see the whole blog post here), mixed berry scones (from Trader Joe’s scone mix), and last minute, I decided to bake mini pumpkin pies. Up until the pies, the baking was all going so well. In my mind, I envisioned the pies being baked in cupcake tins then popping them out to eat on their own. After several hours of preparing the pie crusts, I was devastated to find that they were a lot harder to get out of the cupcake pan than I thought. Many of them cracked while trying to get them out of the pan, so I was only left with four for the actual picnic (my family still ate the broken ones).

For the tea, I brought my Ladurée tea bags and vintage tea set. Prathyusha brought the mini golden tea spoons which completed the whole tea aesthetic.

Some of my other favorite items that we had were Trader Joe’s Peruvian Potato Chips and Red Chili Scalloped Crackers. As much as I love sweet, I am a huge fan of savory as well. Overall, I am so thrilled with how beautiful our picnic turned out. Definitely Pinterest worthy if I don’t say so myself.
