DIY: Valentine's Day Baking

DIY: Valentine's Day Baking

For Valentine’s Day weekend, I did a virtual baking session with my friend Kimberly via Facetime. Together, we baked a Chocolate Tart and heart-shaped cookies.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies Notes and Tips:

  • The recipe suggests that you freeze your cookies before placing them in the oven. I skipped this step entirely because when I tried to move my cookies from the baking sheet to a plate to put them in the freezer they started breaking and I didn’t have enough room in the freezer to store the whole baking sheet. Nevertheless, my cookies turned out exactly how I hoped. The dough was a bit soft towards the end when I was trying to form the cookies, which is why some look a bit messier than others.

Gluten Free Chocolate Tart Notes and Tips:

  • The recipe asks that you double broil the chocolate and coconut milk. Since I didn’t have the proper kind of bowl to do this, I just threw everything in a pot to melt the chocolate.

  • For a less sugary chocolate tart, I used part Nestles chocolate chips and part semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  • Before decorating, I let the chocolate tart set overnight. Once the tart was fully set, it was easier to get it out of the tin and the entire chocolate surface was hard enough to hold all the toppings.

Happy Valentine’s Day Lovers! I hope everyone had a love-filled Valentine’s Day weekend and you indulged a bit in something sweet. As always, please let me know if you have any questions about the baking process for these two recipes and if you have suggestions on what I should bake next, leave a comment in the section down below!

xoxo
