Mar 15 Scarlet Dream

Red is the color of Love & everything in between.

To me, red is the color of all emotions combined: anger, lust, jealousy, happiness, and sadness. Maybe it’s because we turn red when we’re embarrassed and we also turn red when laughing so hard, our stomaches hurt. In Chinese culture, red is a lucky color which is why Chinese New Year money is traditionally given in little red envelopes. There’s just something about red - it’s striking.

As a little girl, I would play with my mother’s makeup. Lipstick, to me wasn’t the staple item, it was eye shadows. But of course, I didn’t have the biggest eyes and I struggled to put on eye makeup, so I turned to lipstick to complete my looks. As it turns out, red lipstick is my go-to for every fancy event, brunch, and weekend outing. Every girl has her staple make-up item, but for me, it’s lipstick. I’ll write all about my love for lipstick and how I feel like I grew into my lips in a future post.

I bought this dress at a Crossroads in Silverlake. It’s a beautiful red chiffon and it still had the tag on it. To this day, it’s my favorite thirft store find. You’d never know I bought this dress for less than $30.
