As we skimmed through our Instagram feed, this magical arch up books kept coming up #Lastbookstore. Naturally, we HAD to go explore it for ourselves. So on a spontaneous Saturday night, we got all dolled up and headed to South Spring Street in LA . The receiving lobby of the store had walls, tables, and cubbies covered in books of every possible genre. No surface was left untouched. Suddenly, we felt like we has walked into a hybrid world of Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
There was a certain magical air within the walls of the bookstore. Even the new books seemed to get lost behind the books with old binding and fading pages. Each book contained a world of knowledge just waiting to be discovered.
The bookstore even has several galleries containing variety of vendors selling quirky items like old cameras, abstract paintings, trinkets, and other oddities. As we walked from corridors to cubby to nook, we discovered books of all genres and other fellow visitors looking for the best angle to Instagram. We were amazed on the huge extent to which books of every possible subject were displayed. From the newest books on the latest trending Youtuber to books in old English about God, there was no subject left unwritten in the bookstore.
For the tail end of our visit, we skimmed through old records to look for any artist that might sound remotely familiar to our young ears. In all fairness, the oldest music we probably listen to is The Beattles or The Rolling Stones, so we were pretty naive to the huge variety of available artists.
As we drifted out of the bookstore, a young stranger on the street walked pasted us and said to me, "You rock that choker-fluffy jacket combo, girl!". We laughed and wandered through the streets till we found the car again then drove off into the night.
