Sometimes, I just prefer to get away. I want to hear my own thoughts and feel like my being matters. On a day to day basis, the only time I have to think vividly is in the shower. I don't know what it is, but there's something about the combination of steam, warm water, and stillness that just invigorates my thoughts. There's just never enough time in the day to soak everything in and consider all the moments passing by.
How can I live in the now? After all, the overarching theme of our generation is fueled on the concerns of the future: How much money do you want to make? What's your major? What do you aspire to be?. It's actually a great shame that I plan on devoting the majority of my youthful years on worry, doubt, and stress. Everything moves so fast nowadays.
Slow down...soak it all in...Remember these faces in front of you. Now more than ever, solitude can be hard to find. I, like most people, would rather be in the hands of good company than be all alone; however, the compulsive need, the innate fear of being completely alone, seems pathetic. There needs to be a balance.
Solitude isn't loneliness. Solitude is choosing to stand on your own two feet. Solitude is thinking for yourself. At it's very best, solitude can revolutionize your existence.
Where do you find solitude?
